COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 4,1995 PSA#1339

GLOBAL INTERMODALISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM The National Aviation and Transportation Center in participation with the FAA will be holding its Fourth Annual Symposium on July 24-27, 1995. Global Intermodalism and Economic Development, the theme for this year's Symposium, deals with the positioning of integrated transportation systems as a tool to enhance both economic development and international competitiveness. Constrained movement of people, goods, services and information has a deleterious effect on mobility and efficiency, which in turn impairs productivity and economic growth. Central to economic optimization is a comprehensive and integrated transportation system involving land, air, and sea. The Fourth Annual Symposium will have a series of outstanding keynote speakers from business, government and industry. These speakers will establish the overview in several subject areas related to transportation. Five workshops will address specific themes including: Human Factors, Technology Transfer, Simulation and Multimedia, International Partnerships, and Privatization. Workshop sessions will consist of a series of presentations by experts in their field, followed by questions and answers moderated by a Session Chair. Transportation related exhibitions representing business and government will be on display. Intelligent transportation systems as well simulation, visualization and multi-media technologies will be included in the state-of-the-art applications to transportation. The five continuing education courses offered the final two days of the Symposium (July 26-27, 1995) will deal with the following subjects: Air Quality Transportation Requirements Under the Clean Air Act and Their Applications to Business, Intermodalism and Transportation Total Quality Management (TTQM), Human Factors in Transportation for Engineers and Managers, Aromacology and the Built Environment, Traditional Neighborhood Development: TND. The proceedings of the conference will be published for all those attending.
