NOAA is seeking to acquire up to 18 Compact Shallow-Water Multibeam Sonar Systems for collecting hydrographic sounding data. These systems should be comprised primarily of commercial-off-the-shelf components consisting of an integrated multibeam-sonar system with data acquisition and preliminary data processing capability. The integrated package must also include a vertical-beam recording echosounder, and all sensors and capability necessary to determine and correct for vessel position, vessel motion, true vessel heading, and speed of sound in water. Concurrent acquisition of acoustic backscatter amplitude imagery is required. The system must provide for preplanned trackline guidance and integration of water levels and differential GPS data. Sensors must perform as an integrated system to meet specific position and sounding accuracy stds. Installation, training, spare parts, and extended warranty coverage will be options. Systems will be installed in 9-meter NOAA survey launches. The RFP is scheduled for release in early-mid June.
