44135 99 -- GENERAL AND PRECISION MACHINING OF SUPPLY SERVICES FOR THE
FABRICATION OF RESEARCH HARDWARE PART, MODELS AND ASSEMBLIES (SYNOPSIS

Only written requests for copies of the solicitation will be accepted
via mail or fax at (216) 433-5185. Requests shall include the
solicitation no. RFP3-019419, and your company's name, phone no., and
mailing address. The Government is currently interested in procuring a
variety of machining and fabrication services to augment the
NASA-Lewis Research Center machine shop, model shop, fabrication shop,
facilities, and equipment. Because of the volume of work and the
importance of expedited delivery schedules, it is anticipated that we
will be awarding multiple contracts. Each contract will have a one-year
base period of performance and four option years. We are attempting to
simplify the previous contracting methods used to obtain these
services. These contracts can be Indefinite Quantity
cost-plus-fixed-fee OR Indefinite Quantity fixed-price-hourly-rate
contracts. Each contract will be tailored to a company's individual
capabilities. They will specify a minimum and a maximum amount of hours
you may be awarded in a single year. Contracts may specify some or all
of the following listed work: Fabrication and dimensional inspection
in accordance with ANSI Y14.5M; Precision machining and fabrication of
experimental research hardware, model and model supports; Precision
machining and fabrication of space flight hardware; Conventional and
multiple-axis computerized numerical control (CNC) machining; Research
instrumentation; Inspection at contractor's facility; Space flight
hardware shall be 100% dimensional inspection; Occasional fabrication
and machining of special materials (i.e., titanium, molybdenum, monel,
2% thoriated tungsten, ceramics, composites, etc.). Copies of a draft
Statement of Work containing additional specifications is currently
available and can be obtained by faxing a request for RFP3-019419SOW,
Attn: Ron Matthews, to (216) 433-5185. Work must be performed within a
250 mile radius of the Lewis Research Center. If you are interested in
participating in this process please provide the above listed
individual with your companies qualifications on the following: 1. The
desired types of work your company would be interested in completing.
2. The amount of hours your company will be able to complete on a
yearly basis. 3. Types of machines and equipment available. 4. Ability
to meet agreed to delivery schedules. 5. Ability to meet 24 hour
turn-around time for tasks up to 80 labor hours (not to exceed two a
day). The Government will be holding a conference at the Lewis Research
Center to give those interested a more detailed description of the
contract requirements. Solicitations will be distributed at that time.
By responding to this synopsis your company will be invited to attend
this conference, provided your company can meet our requirements
within the geographical limits listed above. The Government reserves
the right to retain the list of contractors interested to allow for
future contract awards. Delivery to Cleveland, Ohio 44135. Each Task
Order will have its own delivery schedule. Estimated period of
performance is one-base year plus four option years. The date set for
receipt of proposals is approximate. This procurement is a 100 percent
small business set-aside. All responsible sources may submit a
