for the U.s. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board
(The Board) proposes to conduct a nine-month research project on making
swimming pools accessible to and independently usable by persons with
disabilities. This project will examine various means by which access
into pools can be accomplished and assess their appropriateness, degree
of consistency with ADAAG, level of safety, and impact on pool design.
The goal of this project is to develop recommendations on the scoping
and technical requirements for accessible swimming pools. This project
will address an essential legislative mandate ot the Board in
establishing minimum guidelines pursuant to the ADA, and will enable
the access Board ot provide entities on providing accessiblity to
swimming pools. The anticipated issue date is May 17, 1995 and the
closing date is June 22, 1995. All requests shall reference the number
and title of the RFP-95-029 Swimming Pools Accessiblity. Request for
