Kevin King, Contracting Officer. The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)
has a requirement for a ultra-high pumping station and lower UHV
chamber. With an existing UHV upper chamber will be used as a surface
analysis system for thermionic cathode research. The compact UHV
pumping system must: (a) be a combination of turbo pump, ion pump,
cryogenic absorption, and Titanium Sublimation pump (TSP) in one
compact unit, (b) have a minimum of 4 user selectable filaments in the
TSP element. The ion pump elements shall be shielded from the TSP to
prevent Titanium coating, (d) have a pumping station that mounts to the
vacuum chamber by means of a 14.625 inch O.D. male wire seal flange,
(e) have a stray magnetic field less than 10 milligauss above the
earths magnetic field at the base plate, (f) contain a turbo molecular
roughing pump with a minimum of 60 1/sec capacity, and an isolation
value from the UHV system. Additional information will be provided in
