Advanced Shock Isolating Devices - The Navy is seeking information and potential sources which may or may not lead to the procurement of advanced shock isolation devices to be used in isolating Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment. The equipment may be isolated individually, or in groups/suites of equipment mounted on a common base or raft structure. The design environment is defined be typical naval surface combatant shock and whipping motions caused by underwater explosions. The isolators should be capable of operating under normal shipboard environmental conditions (i.e., high humidity and moderate to severe temperature ranges) and should be capable of mitigating the shock/whipping motions with minimal excursions while providing adequate vibration and acoustic isolation. It is estimated that the necessary mount capacities could range from 100 pounds to 10,000 pounds. Interested parties are requested to provide technical literature for products that currently exist or are under development that may meet the above requirements. The technical literature submitted should describe, in non-proprietary terms, all physical and operational characteristics of the typical candidate isolators. All data will be treated as business sensitive and will not be disclosed outside the Government.
