Specialist, Katherine Atkins, 205-895-1163. The U.S. Army Engineer
Division, Huntsville, intends to procure, on a sole source basis, a
field-portable remote visual inspection system for use under its
Ordnance and Explosive Waste (OEW) Programs. It is anticipated that the
item will be procured from Olympus America, Inc., Roswell, GA. The
following basic capabilities are required to meet the requirements for
the remote visual inspection system: 1) System must have a small,
flexible articulating probe to handle turns such as those found in a
ventilation duct; 2) The probe must have the proper stiffness to aid in
maneuvering around and over obstacles; 3) The probe must have a layer
of waterproofing material; 4) The probe must have a minimum working
length of nine feet; 5) The system's color video monitor should display
a clear, distortion-free, real-time image from the processed analog
pulses transmitted from the probe tip; 6) The system must provide pure,
continuous, white light illumination for the area round image sensor
(charge coupled device) in the probe; 7) Electronic images are to be
capable of being digitally freeze-framed; and 8) The system must be
rugged and include carry frame to be portable for use in the field.
This is not a request for porposals. However, any firm which can meet
the requirement is requested to submit, in writing, an affirmative
response which should include applicable pricing and any additional
information indicating bona fide ability to meet this specific
requirement. Responses should be furnished by 23 May 1995. Responses
should include business size; standard industrial code for this action
is 3829. For purposes of this acquisition, any firm which has less
than 500 employees is considered a small business. All responsible
sources may respond to this synopsis, and all such responses will be
