INFORMATION This agency requests information to search the industry's
interest for a requirement to procure an indefinite delivery and
indefinite quantity type contract for textbooks. These textbooks will
be purchased for the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC), Air
University, Maxwell AFB AL. This is also a search for the market to
help in this Government/Industry collaborative effort to identify the
best possible solution such as awarding to the firm who offers the
highest discount from the publishers price list; multiple awards
feasibility, determine if electronic ordering capabilities are
available and also to award the contract(s) with the best arrangement
for both the Government and the book community. Examples of textbook
titles previously purchased are listed by title, author and publisher
for information only: (1) ''Lincoln on Leadership'', by D. Phillips,
Ballantine; (2) ''Diplomacy'', by H. Kissinger, Simon and Schuster; (3)
''War Plan Orange: U.S. Strategy to Defeat Japan'', by Miller, Naval
Institute Press; (4) ''Patterns of War Since the 18th Century'', by L.
Addington, Indiana University Press; (5) Crusade: Untold Story of the
Gulf War, by R. Atkinson, Houghton-Mifflin. Quantities range from 180
to 700 copies per title. Approximately $900,000 has been spent during
FY 94 and FY 95. At this time the only purpose for this synopsis is to
develop a strategy to purchase textbooks for Air Command and Staff
College. The contract shall have an initial 12 month period and two
option periods of 12 months. Interested firms are invited to submit
literature, detailed information describing capability, experience,
past performance and qualifications. Acknowledgment of receipt of
information will not be made, however, sources deemed qualified will be
called and a conference call will be connected at Government expense to
discuss this procurement arrangement. This is NOT a Request for
Proposal and should not be construed as a commitment by the Government.
