During 1993-94, the FHWA sponsored a set of studies called the Automated Highway System (AHS) Presursor Systems Analyses (PSA). These studies identified and examined a broad array of AHS issues, to include deployability, vehicle control, applications, system operations, safety, institutional and societal issues. These research studies are complete and all final reports will ultimately be publicly available through the National Technical Information Service (703- 487-4600). As most of the reports are not yet public, the FHWA has made a draft version of the report, ''Summary and Assessment of Findings from the Precursor Analyses of AHS,'' available. This report summarize and highlights the PSA research results and thus may be useful to prospective respondents to the NAHSC Concepts Solicitation.
