Nordman, Contracting Officer, (410) 671-3821 The U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command intends to negotiate with General Dynamics Land systems Division (GDLS), 38500 moundroad, Sterling heights, MI 48090-2074, under the authority of 10 U.S.C., section 2304 (C) (1), for contractor services to modify 123 existing XM93, FOX nuclear, biological and chemical reconnaissance (NBCRS) vehicles to the block one configuration. (the NBCRS is a fully integrated NBC detection, warning and communication system mounted on an eighteen ton, 6 wheeledchassis.) the block one modification incorporates the following specificenhancements: A standoff chemical detector, a central data processing unit, a secure voice and data communication system, a meteorological system, an improved sampling and Marker deployment system, replacement of ozone depleting substances, simulator upgrade, and organic Army maintenance. GDLS, with its teaming agreement with thyssen-Henschel Industries ofgermany, is the only firm with access to all the necessary proprietary technical data required for successful completion of the block one upgrade. It is anticipated that the basic contract will upgrade 26 FOX systems and contain four out-year options through year 2000, for the upgrade of 34, 25,25 and 13 systems respectively. Delivery schedule and destination are to be determined. The tentative Solicitation release date is 5 June 1995 with an expected closing date of 20 July 1995. (see also, Note 22.)(0128)
