(Region 9) has a requirement for an Inductively Coupled Mass
Spectrometer (ICP-MS) System which includes ICP-MS software, hardware,
and printer, an ultrasonic nebulizer, a chiller unit, and a random
access autosampler. This instrument will be utilized to process low
level water samples and samples with complex matrices that contain
suspect levels of toxic metals. The system must conform to the
following specifications: 1) capable of scanning the mass range 5-250
amu with a minimum resolution capability of 1 amu peak width at 5% peak
height. 2) radio-freequency generation must comply with FCC
regulations; 3) a mass-flow controller on the nebulizer gas supply is
required; 4) a variable-speed peristaltic pump is required for solution
delivery to the nebulizer; 5) a recirculating water cooler must be
provided if the ICP-MS system needs to be cooled by chilled water; and
6) the ICP-MS system must be able to process and run
foreground/background ICP-MS software on a computer with at least 16MB
RAM, 340MB hard disk, 3.5'' floppy drive, 14'' or larger VGA monitor,
and include a Laser Jet printer with a minimum of 4MB of memory. The
solicitation will be issued on or about May 25, 1995. Parties who wish
