70 -- SOFTWARE UPGRADE SOL 95-8500-0267 DUE 051995 POC Purchasing Agent, Jody Page, 703-648-7396 The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Reston, Virginia, anticipates awarding a delivery order for a 24-month lease of the Multiple Virtue Storage/Enterprise System Architecture (Open Edition MVS, MVS/ESA 5.1) Software. The delivery order will be issued pursuant to GSA Schedule Contract No. GS00K94AGS5541 to the IBM Corporation. The USGS has a requirement to lease the MVS/ESA operating system for the Amdahl 5890/600E mainframe for two years. The following software components must be included at the version level specified to be universally compatible, and support the stated functions below. The software comprising MVS/ESA must satisfy the following criteria: a) It must be able to run concurrently in any domain of an Amdahl 5890 model 600E; b) must support IBM 3380 and 3390 DASD, 3480 and 3490 tape and robotic silo subsystems, and 3800-3 printer, network file service (NFS), and 3990 model 3 controllers; c) must support reporting capability for future System Management Facility (SMF) changes; d) must support existing applications which include but are not limited to, WYLBUR, Model 204, Customer Information Control System (CICS), Tape Management System (CA-1), Job Scheduler (CA-7), Security System (ACF2) and Fast Dump Restore (FDR); e) must support, at a minimum, Time Sharing Option, Extended (TSO/E) V2R3 with its high level procedural language REXX; f) must support Open System Inter- connectivity (OSI) Networks, applications written in C language, LU 6.2 protocol; g) must support the Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) which provides interfaces between client and server; h) must provide operational commands for starting and stopping Open Edition services; i) must incor- porate the Open Edition shell (command interpreter) and Utilities features; and j) must support the data facility Storage Management Subsystem (SMS).
