Williams, Contracting Officer, 210/652-5111 CNT F41691-95-S/S Sources sought to provide heavy duty deployable notebook computers in support of HQ AFMPC, Randolph AFB TX 78150. This sources sought synopsis request is to identify potential offerors only. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided. Responses to this request must include technical literature, cut sheets, pamphlets, GSA contracts or commercial price lists which will demonstrate the potential offerors' ability to satisfy the Government's requirements. Responses must also include business size and be received in writing by this office within 45 days after the publication of this announcement. A solicitation is not available at this time. Requests for future solicitation documents will not be considered responsive to this request. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information from all potential sources on their capability to field an Intel 486 DX4/100MHz (or equal), (586/75MHz or greater will be entertained) based notebook computer with the following minimum salient characteristics: (1) Hard drive (removable or external) hard disk/controller, approx 500MB of hard disk storage capacity; (2) minimum 28MB RAM, 128KB EXTERNAL CACHE; (3) 83 key-low profile keyboard and mouse; (4) advanced video graphics liquid crystal display with high-resolution color; (5) internal 1.44MB 3.5'' floppy disk drive; (6) PCMCIA slots capable of supporting one Type III or two Type II cards, (muliple capacity a plus); (7) one standard nine-pin RS 232-C serial port and one standard parallel port; (8) internal 14.4KB, V.32 fax modem, (28.8KB a plus); (9) internal network interface adapter compatible with Ethernet 802.3 and 802.3i local area networks, LAN card must support a current requirement for Boconic Network Connector (BNC) capabilities and a future requirement for X.25 communications over the Defense Data Network/Defense Information System Network; (10) a power supply that can accomodate 120V, 60Hz and 220V, 50Hz, as well as direct current battery power, power transformer is required for operating from a 220V, 50Hz power source for the printer, power inverter (either 12 or 24 volts) for converting direct current from an external battery into alternating current, must include power cables for connecting to multiple types of power sources; (11) surge suppressor to accomodate 120V, 50/60 Hz power received directly from the power source or via a transformer or inverter; (12) lightweight printer, options include laser, bubble jet, and dot matrix, suggested minimum specs include 6MB RAM, 4 page per minute, 600 X 600 dots per inch (suggest multiple alternatives); (13) CD ROM (write only); (14) a backup capability (tape, external hard drive, etc); (15) ruggedized transit cases that meet one or two person carry limits, yet small enough to fit under airline seats or inside overhead compartments. Must not exceed 35 lbs per case, 70 lbs total; (16) barcode readers; (17) all equipment must operate in a temperature range of 33 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit at humidity variations of 10-90 percent noncondensing; (18) operating system software to include most advanced Windows release. Information submitted by potential sources shall include: (a) currect technology configuration to meet the above requirement (Commercial-Off-the-Shelf products only--minimum modifications to meet specifications only); (b) possible configurations one year from now based upon expected technology enhancements. All responses must be in writing, telephonic solicitations will not be honored. Responses must state that the contractor is not on the Parties Excluded from Procurement Programs, as well. Contractors with GSA schedules shall provide the contract number, pricing and expiration date.
