Johnson Space Center (JSC) proposes to enter into a modification to contract NAS 9-17873 with Hamilton Standard Division (HSD) of United Technologies Corporation, Windsor Locks, Connecticut, for Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) for the EMU Planar Hard Upper Torso (HUT) Phase II Delta activity. This procurement is to provide for three Weightless Environment Test Facility HUT's (assumes disconnect GFE); buildup of the medium Design Verfication Test, Hard Torso Shell (HTS) into a WETF HUT (assumes disconnect GFE); manufacture two additional large HUT side Body Seal Closure's drop the large Design Verification Test Hard Torso Shell from the Phase II Planar HUT task; build-up of the EMU Cert Support Hardware and Equipment, a no-bond arm pull confidence test and realigns the implementation phase toward large HUT's first; abd delays cert until after the Delta Critical Design Review; production for the Shuttle programs of 13 Class I and 7 Class III Planar HUTs, and for the Space Station, 5 Class I and 3 Class III Planar HUTs, for a total of 18 Class I and 10 Class III HUTs.
