The U.S. Department of Energy, Nevada Operations Office (DOE/NV) is seeking drilling partners interested in learning large diameter deep shaft drilling techniques. DOE wishes to see this technology, developed at taxpayer expense, benefit a private sector organization with an interest in keeping the technology alive. The project would involve joint collaboration between DOE/NV and its contractors, a mining partner (already selected) and a drilling partner. A shaft approximately 142 inches in diameter will be precision drilled to a depth of approximately 1800 feet. At the completion of the project, the drill rig, weights, string, and bits will become the property of the drilling partner, while the mining partner will retain rights to the drilled shaft. DOE will require proposals be submitted by COB June 30, 1995.
