This procurement is for the acquisition of a Microdyne 2800 Dual Channel Telemetry Receiver/Combiner to be utilized as a replacement (spare unit) for existing 2800 units employed in MK-75 Portable Telemetry Receiving Systems (PTRS). In order to meet the limited shipboard space requirements, the unit must be 5.25 inches in height. The 2800 also has a specific multiple connector configuration on the rear panel which interfaces the unit to other system components. This connector pattern must be exactly maintained as the connecting cables within the system are cut to length and harnessed to mate the 2800 rear connector panel. The Microdyne 2800 has a built-in four channel combiner mode capability. By connecting one 2800 to another, the combined unit provides four channel capability. This capability allows simultaneous polarization and space diversity combining which requires a ''matched'' pair of 2800 receivers. The Microdyne 2800 is the only known unit manufactured that can comply with the required size constraints and compatibility requirements. Therefore, the anticipated contract will be satisfied through other than full and open competition with Microdyne Corporation, 491 Oak Road, Ocala, FL 32672-0213.
