packaging and labelling. 5. Title and number of pages of the notified
document: Proposed Amendment to the Consumer Packaging and Labelling
Regulations, pages 981-987. 6. Description of content: The Consumer
Packaging and Labelling Act ensures that consumers are provided with
accurate and meaningful information when making purchase decisions. To
achieve this, the Act and its associated Regulations set out
specifications for mandatory label information, such as the product's
name, net contents and dealer's identity. In addition, specifications
for label placement, requirements for the language of labelling,
legibility, and units of measure and accuracy for net quantity
declarations are provided. In addition to the basic labelling
requirements, the Governor in Council may restrict the number of
container sizes for specific product categories when, in his opinion,
a proliferation of sizes or shapes exists and such proliferation may
confuse consumers as to the net quantity of product. 7. Objective and
