Office of Fisheries Conservation and Management, seeks to conduct
Phase 1 of a two-phased study related to the assessment and evaluation
of social impacts of Amendment 5 to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP)
for the multi-species groundfish fishery of the Northeastern United
States. The study is to provide information on three issues: (a)
community-dependence on the fishery and the nature and scope of social
impacts of the FMP's management measures on fishermen, others working
in fishery-related employment, and their communities; (b) demographics
and numbers of fishermen, fishing craft, and persons involved in
fishery-related industries by community, county and state; and (c)
relevant social science data-bases and social issues which should be
used or considered in Phase 2 to identify the social impacts of fishery
management in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic areas of the United
States. This is a re-synopsis of a previously published announcement
that appeared in the August 17, 1994 edition of the Commerce Business
Daily. If an offeror has already submitted a request, they need not
