A. Klapal (201) 724-3274. The US Army ARDEC is conducting a market
survey for sources to build XM237 fuzes for deployment from the
multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). This fuze is a modified XM235
fuze without a ground impact function and with the following
capabilities: an anti- disturbance (AD) function from 0-4 hours, an
electronic random time self-destruct function from 1 to 4 hours, and a
battery bleed-down function to kill the battery within 60 minutes
after an SD or AD misfire occurs. The contractor shall build
approximately 20,302 XM237 fuzes and assist in their loading with
electro-explosive devices (EED's) for use in qualification testing on
39 MLRS rockets. The first delivery for approximately 15 rockets is
required by June 1996. The contractor shall fabricate an additional 588
fuzes, some complete XM237 fuzes assembled to M77 grenade body loading
assemblies and some incomplete to undergo various engineering and
safety tests. The design of the proposed fuze must be complete and
proven within 3 months after contract award. Expressions of interest
must be in writing and submitted by mail. Only responses which provide
descriptive literature that substantiate the ability to meet all of
the above requirements will be included in any potential vendors list.
