U -- JCAHO PRE-SURVEY TRAINING DUE 060695 POC Contact Point, Janette Reynolds, (908)604-5824, Contracting Officer, Janette Reynolds, (908)604-5824 The VA Medical Center, Lyons, NJ intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Healthcare Quality Improvement Resources, Inc. (HQIR), 764 Sherwood Court, Oradell, NJ 07649 for providing training needs in preparation for our upcoming JCAHO survey. It is the government's belief that HQIR is the only source that (1) has a proven record in preparing/training hospital staff for JCAHO survey to the extent that there have been no instances where surveys resulted in any Type I recommendations based on HQIR's pre-survey training (2) has recent experience with Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in the performance of pre-JCAHO surveys (3) has the capability of providing a qualified team of physicians, RNs, engineers, etc. experienced in JCAHO preparation (4) possess the ability to provide comprehensive training in acute, ambulatory, long term and mental health care services (5) retains the knowledge to train all staff in JCAHO revised functional standards including team training for clinical multi-disciplinary groups. Negotiations with HQIR will commence 15 calendar days from the publication date of this synopsis. Any additional information received from parties who feel they have comparable capabilities will be used soley for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the government not to open the requirement for competition is solely within the discretion of the government. All responses must be in writing.
