The site is a military port facility located in Brunswick County, North Carolina; on the west side of Cape Fear River, approximately 10 miles upstream from the river's mouth. The work will consist of a. deepening the south entrance channel from -34 feet MLLW to -38 feet MLLW and widening the channel from 300 feet to 400 feet; b. deepening the south basin from -34 feet MLLW to -38 feet MLLW; c. deepening the center entrance channel from -34 feet MLLW to -38 feet MLLW and widening the channel from 300 feet to 400 feet; and d. deepening the center basin from -34 feet MLLW to -38 feet MLLW and widening a portion of the basin from its current width (800-1000) to 1500 feet. Disposal of dredged material shall be in the Wilmington Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site. The total quantity of material to be dredged is estimated to be about 4,500,000 cubic yards. Estimated cost of the project is over $10,000,000. All work shall be completed 240 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Advertising date is scheduled for 15 June 1995 with bid opening O/A 17 July 1995. Plans and Specs are $25.00 per set and will be available O/A 15 June 1995.
