Internet: mary_adamik@nih.gov. The National Institutes of Health (NIH)
requires Internet communications services for the NIH campus in
Bethesda, MD and for the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Frederick
Cancer Research and Development Center (FCRDC) in Frederick, MD.
Initially, the NIH requires one (1) DS-1 connection and one (1) DS-3
connection for the National Library of Medicine (NLM) (Bethesda, MD),
one (1) 10 Mbps connection for the Division of Computer Research and
Technology (DCRT) (Bethesda, MD) and one (1) DS-1 connection for the
FCRDC (Frederick, MD). Additional connections and upgrades in speed and
throughput are anticipated over the course of the contract. Services
required include contractor's network management and monitoring of
connections, end-to-end troubleshooting, a Network Operations Center
staffed 24 hours per day-7 days per week, secondary domain name
service, network news and MBONE feeds, consulting services, on-call
maintenance services, hardware maintenance, secondary connections and
the acquisition of hardware and software to support Internet
connections. A one-year fixed-price indefinite delivery-indefinite
quantity type contract with seven (7) one-year option periods is
anticipated. RFP-NLM-95-107/MVA will be available on or about May 31,
1995 with proposals due on or about June 30, 1995. An award date of
September 30, 1995 is anticipated with connections required within 60
days after award. RFP-NLM-95-107/MVA WILL BE AVAILABLE VIA THE
INTERNET. Copies may be downloaded from the National Library of
Medicine (NLM) Gopher. To access the NLM Gopher, point your gopher
client to gopher.nlm.nih.gov at port 70; select NLM Requests for
Proposals (RFPs); select RFP-NLM-95-107/MVA. Facsimile requests will
not be honored. Issuance of the RFP is contingent upon receipt of a
Delegation of Procurement Authority. All responsible resources may
submit an offer which will be considered by the National Library of
