Title and number of pages of the notified document: TIS 1228-2537 (1994): Standard for Cold Formed Structural Steel Sections (23 pages). 6. Description of content: Covers only structural steel made from mild steel by the process of cold forming. Classifies into six types, i.e. angle steel, channel steel, lip channel steel, light Z steel, lip Z steel and hat steel which are of 1 grades denoted by the symbol SSC 400. Specifies sizes and tolerances (i.e. thickness, cross-sectional area, moment of inertia, radius of gyration and modulus of section) and chemical composition. Prescribes requirements for workmanship, yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Includes marking and labelling and testing. 7. Objective and rationale: Consumer protection and national security. 8.
