PLAN: CALL FOR COMMENT AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF FORUM POC: Charles Kalina on
(301) 402-4100. The Committee on Information and Communications R&D
(CIC), a committee of the National Science and Technology Council, has
published a Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP), America in the Age of
Information, dated March 1995, that sets forth a high level strategy
for the Federal Government's research and development investment in
information and communications technologies. The plan will be revised
and extended as academia, Government, and industry work together in
planning research agendas to exploit information and communications
technologies for the benefit of all Americans. To facilitate this work,
the Committee is calling on academia, industry, businesses, trade and
professional groups, interest groups, foundations, and concerned
individuals to submit white papers on topics bearing on the SIP,
especially for its enhancement or refinement. Consensus positions from
relevant activity sectors are encouraged. Selected papers will be
invited for presentation and discussion at a forum to be held on July
6 and 7, 1995 at the Lister Hill Center of the National Library of
Medicine on the campus of the National Institutes of Health in
Bethesda, Maryland. Address requests for further information, the Call

Intent to submit (due May 23, 1995), and submitted White Papers (due
