Arnold, Contracting Officer, (303) 236-5900 x349, Mickey Lechuga, Contract Specialist, (303) 236-5900, x332 Concerns having the ability to furnish the supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of this synopsis. Salient characteristics: Production of a prototype velocimeter by modification to an existing analog and digital acoustic doppler velocimeter (ADV) electronics to fit inside a 3'' diameter steel pressure vessel; pressure test the system to a depth of at least 330 ft.; electronics shall fit within an approximately 10 cm diameter which shall fit in a 15 cm borehole; probe shall function at the end of a 100 m cable under hydrostatic loading; install and interface to compass inside the pressure vessel; build guard cage to protect the transducer assembly. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the item specified as a sole source from SonTek, 7966 Arjons Dr., Ste. D, San Diego, CA 92126, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. SonTek's acoustic doppler velocimeter is the only such device in existence to measure current in surface bodies of water, and SonTek will modify their existing analog and digital acoustic doppler velocimeter electronics to fit inside a 3'' borehole. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required items or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration.
