X -- LEASE OR RENTAL OF FACILITIES DUE 081495 POC Alvin McNeal, (202) 962-1240 The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) invites proposals in response to its prospectus for development of 45+/- acres at the White Flint Metrorail Station in Montgomery County, Maryland. The property is located at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Marinelli Road in North Bethesda and consists of 2 parcels: White Flint West, 12 acres to the west of Rockville Pike, and White Flint East, 33 acres to the east of Rockville Pike. White Flint West is currently improved with a 1700 space surface parking lot, kiss and ride facilities and 6 bus bays. An underground tunnel connects this parcel with the station. White Flint East is improved with the station facilities and a parking lot for persons with disabilities. A short term lease for 16 of the 33 acres of White Flint East for operation of a golf driving range will expire on December 31, 1999. The lease will not interfere with the long term planning for the site, although control of the currently leased portion of the site will not be available to the selected developer until the lease expires. WMATA may offer a long-term lease (99 years) of its development rights for portions of the property developed for commercial lease or residential rental.
