currently has a requirement for ammunition in support of the
Multi-Role, Anti-Armor, Anti-Personnel Weapon System (MAAWS). The full
family of ammunition is required to support a multi purpose, man
portable, line of sight, reloadable, salt water submersible, air
jumpable recoilless day/night Anti-Armor and Anti-Personnel system
which is required to provide armored vehicle denial and penetration,
earth and timber bunker incorporation, hardened facility penetration,
personnel denial in open, defilade or soft/wood frame structures, soft
target destrution, smoke and illumination capabilities. Munitions must
provide a capability to engage targets at maximum ranges of 500 meters
or greater. Full caliber training ammunition and a subcaliber training
system is required. The training ammunition must interface with a
MILES-Compatible training device. The use of training equipment must
not require modification to either the weapon or ammunition. The
complete munition weight must not exceed 10 lbs. The ammunition must be
fully developed, tested and fielded with immediate production
capability. All items must meet US safety and performance requirements.
ARDEC intends to satisfy the requirement for the following types and
maximum quantities of ammunition through a contract action for Carl
Gustaf 84mm recoilless rifle ammunition with BOFORS, Swedish Ordnance,
Karlskoga, Sweden: 84mm HEAT Round 16,625 ea., 84mm High Explosive
Dual Purpose Round, 3,470 ea., 84mm High Explosive Round, 10,625 ea.,
84mm Target Pratice Round 7,170 ea., 84mm Illumination Round 8230 ea.,
84mm Smoke Round, 8,250 ea., 84mm Target Practice/Training Rounds 200
ea. 762mm subcaliber Tracer Round, 540,000 ea. The quantities will be
acquired in a basic and four option quantities. ARDEC contemplates
this contract action based on Other Than Full and Open Competition
based on the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1), as implemented by FAR
6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source as the agency's mimimum needs can
only be satisfied by the unique supplies available from BOFORS,
