FAX (703) 805-3122 This solicitation is in response to interest shown
in a market survey performed October/November 1994. General: This
solicitation is to determine public interest for the following
transaction: 1. Exchange fifty seven (57) each, 500 kw Vietnam era,
Caterpillar generators. associated control banks, spare parts and
installation material and special tools in ''as is'' condition for new
self contained, mobile power modules, Caterpillar 3516 Utility Grade
or equivalent, complete with undercarriages and all auxiliary and
control equipment. Each new unit will be fully self contained packaged
in an ISO container will trailer capable of producing 1500 kw, 4160
volts, three phase at 60 hertz, but also 50 hertz capable, prime rated
with the ability to operate stand alone, single unit or in multiple
units as the prime power or in parallel with a utility. This exchange
will be at no cost to the Government. An additional ten (10) 500kw
generators may become available within eighteen (18) months from the
Notice to Proceed. 2. The old equipment is located at Tooele Army
Depot, Tooele, Utah, Hill AFB, Ut and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Each of
the fifty seven (57) engine/generators consist of a Caterpillar D398
engine and Kato listed as model SM500-6800, 500 kw, 4160 V, 60 Hertz.
The control Banks contain the engine and generator controls.
Installation equipment consists of spare parts and special tools, exact
qualities and condition are unknown. Technical inspection reports nor
these units are not available nor is information as to quantity and
condition of the overpacks and specials tools. 3. The property
described in item number 1 is being offered in accordance with the
exchange provision of Section 201(c) of the Federal Property and
Adminstration Services Act of 1949, 63 Stat. 384 (40 U. S. C. 481 (c)).
