(412) 476-6571. Provide a high power, neodymium doped, yttrium aluminum
garnet, solid state system (1064 nm wavelength). The unit shall be a
complete system capable of welding and cutting metallic, and cutting
nonmetallic materials. Systems components must include the following as
a minimum: (1) The average laser power exiting the laser head shall be
greater than or equal to 1 kilowatt with 100% duty cycle as measured
by a calibrated laser power meter. Continuous wave and pulsed lasers
will be considered; (2) A fiber optic laser beam delivery system shall
be provided including an input system that focuses the laser beam into
a solid fused quartz (fused silica, glass) fiber and an output lens
system that refocuses the laser beam exiting the fiber with less than
15% laser power loss for a 10 meter fiber system relative to the
average power exiting the laser head; (3) A water cooled water chiller
shall remove all excess heat from the laser cavities and laser beam
dump(s) at maximum laser poweer; (4) The laser power source and water
chiller shall operate an electrical input of 460 volts, 3 phase, and 60
Hz; (5) Laser head alignment of the laser beam components shall be
rigidly set before shipping and rechecked by the seller at the buyer's
facility after installation and before laser operation; (6) The fiber
optic system shall have a safety system such that if the fiber should
fail during operation, the entire laser the entire laser system shuts
down except water cooling and chilling; (7) All components of the
laser system and fiber optics system shall have a minimum of a one year
warranty of parts and labor; (8) Delivery of the unit is required
within 16 weeks from the order date; (9) Training materials, operation
instructions, maintenance manuals and drawings of the components shall
be delivered with the laser unit; (10) The laser unit shall have a
safety interlock system that will shut down the laser when tripped;
(11) The laser unit shall be capable of operating in a 20 foot by 8
foot room with no ear protection required; (12) The laser with fiber
optics system shall be capable of integrating with a robot; (13) A CCTV
or equivalent system shall be provided for seam alignment; (14) A low
power helium-neon laser or equivalent shall be supplied to check the
Nd:YAG laser beam alignment; (15) Training of personnel at Buyer's
facility is required. The components of the system shall be of proven
design with a history of satisfactory performance. The Seller shall
provide objective evidence of the ability of this laser system to
product sound welds and even cuts in austenitic stainless steel using
the full laser power of the system. Metallographic examination of the
test plates is required. The above tests are to be conducted at the
vendor's site on the same unit that is to be shipped to Bettis. All
system readouts, displays and data acquisition must be able to display
and record in the English system of units. The Seller must provide the
Buyer with a Certificate of Insurance prior to start of on-site work.
Only those vendors who can provide and install a complete system need
apply. Requests must be in writing and must be postmarked no later than
fifteen (15) calendar days after date of publication. Telephone
requests will not be honored. (139) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0291 19950522\34-0001.SOL)
