COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 23,1995 PSA#1352Commanding Officer, U.S. Coast Guard Operations Systems Center, 175
Murall Drive, Martinsburg, WV 25401 70 -- COMPONENTS FOR A SEQUENT MODEL S27 COMPUTER POC Contact:
Contracting Officer: Kathy P. Klein, Ph: (304) 264-2566 The U.S. Coast
Guard intends to purchase Sequent brand components for a Sequent model
S27 computer to serve as the development, testing and backup suite for
the Merchant Mariner Licensing and Documentation (MMLD) system. This
procurement is necessary to obtain sufficient compatable memory, CPU
and disk capacity to enable the Sequent S27 to run on a 24-hour per day
basis in emergency situations as the primary operational suite. In
addition, this procurement will provide for a fully independent test
and development platform for long term life-cycle support of this
mission-critical Coast Guard system. This Sequent upgrade is believed
to be the only reasonable and cost-effective solution. The alternative
is to buy two new minicomputers with UNIX operating systems for MMLD
at the Operations Systems Center (OSC) in Martinsburg, West Virginia,
to serve as operational and backup systems. This acquisition is for the
following: (1) 1 16MB Memory Controller, (2) 1 Multibus interface Board
Set (Model #IOC-9002-01 and Model #IOC-9002-03), (3) 1 Parallel Printer
Controller (Model #LPR-9001-00 and Model #LPR-9001-01), (4) 3 486/50
Proc Boards, (5) 4 Swallow6 Hard Drives, (6) 1 Dynix/Ptx2.1.6 Sequent
Operating System, (7) 1 CAQ Expansion Cabinet (for S2000/400), (8) 1
Controller Board for S27 Expansion Cabinet (Model #DCC DSK-90093-02),
(9) 2 Dual Hard Drive Racks for Swallow Drives for a S27 expansion
cabinet plus cables for drives and cabinets. The government requires
delivery within 30 days after contract award. Interested firms who can
furnish Sequent brand equipment or equal are invited to submit clear
and convincing data substantiating their capability to furnish the
entire requirement. This information, including any GSA Schedule
Contract, if applicable, and firm pricing information, shall be
included in your written response. All responses from responsible
sources will be evaluated; however, vendors failing to provide complete
information will not be considered. All responses must be in writing to
the above address, ATTN: Kathy P. Klein. See Numbered Note 22. (0139) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0421 19950522\70-0006.SOL)
