has been received in Gatt Document TBT/Notification G/95.123 dated 3
May 1995. 1. Member to agreement notifying: Thailand. If applicable,
name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2): 2. Agency
responsible: Thai Industrial Standards Institute. 3. Notified under
Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable,
otherwise National Tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in
addition, where applicable): Bars and rods, hot-rolled of iron (HS
Chapter 7213). 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document:
TIS 1227-2537 (1994): Standard for hot-rolled structural steel sections
(17 pages). 6. Description of content: Covers only structural steel
made from mild steel by the process of hot rolling. Classifies into
five types, i.e. angle steel, channel steel, H-Section steel, I-Section
steel and T-Section steel which are of four grades denoted by the
Symbols SM 400, SM 490, SM 520 and SM 570. Specifies sizes and
tolerances (I.E. thickness, length, squareness, bend, eccentricity) and
chemical composition. Prescribes requirements for workmanship, yield
strength, tensile strength elongation and impact resistance. Includes
marking and labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity and
testing. 7. Objective and rationale: Consumer protection and national
security. 8. Relevant documents: JIS G 3192-1990, BS 4848; Part 4:
1986, DIN 1026-1963, JIS G 3106-1992, JIS G 0321-1966 (reaffirmed:
