NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA is looking for sources who can provide a Cell Culture Unit. A Cell Culture Unit is being developed for use in the Gravitation Biology Facility of the Space Station Biological Research Project at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. This unit will be used to conduct life sciences research on the effects of gravity and its absence, on biological systems. It will have the capability to maintain and monitor microbial, animal and plant cell and tissue cultures for up to 30 days. These habitats will provide media, addition of additives, light, gas pH, and temperature control. The habitat will provide data links to allow video and sensor monitoring and active control of environmental parameters within the unit. Current schedules for the CCU show that flight hardware shall be available for integration August 1997, with subsequent launch on UF-1, February 1999. Responses shall demonstrate existing Phase B studies or actual flight performance. Parties interested in participating in the development of this habitat are encouraged to contact the above, no later than June 19, 1995.
