On behalf of the US Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), ``Shareholder Society Geoterm'', a privately held company in Russia, is soliciting assistance from US geothermal companies to joint venture with them in building a 12 MW extension to the existing 80 MW facilities. The US/Russia Joint Coordinating Committee for Renewable Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding to help the Russian Federation develop their renewable energy resources in an expeditious manner. One of the projects involves the expansion of the geothermal electric power generation facilities in the peninusla of Kamchatka) in the northeast region of Russia. A summary business plan has been submitted to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for evaluation and public dissemination.
