writing. Bechtel Hanford, Inc., under Contract No. DE-AC0693RL12367,
acting as the Contractor in charge of the Environmental Restoration
Program at the Department of Energy's Hanford, Washington site, is
soliciting the interest of experienced and qualified commercial
hazardous and radioactive waste site operators to handle all site waste
disposal activities for the Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility
(ERDF) now being constructed at the Hanford Site. The subcontract for
the work will be a two-step bid process with the first section
(Technical) issued in late July of this year and the second section
(Pricing) issued to the final short list of bidders, in late October.
Award is currently expected to be made early in calendar year 1996. The
successful subcontractor will design and construct all necessary
on-site support and temporary facilities as well as all security
features. After completion of such construction and other mobilization
efforts, the subcontractor will then commence its activities at the
work site in picking up jobsite wastes from others (Remedial Action
subcontractors) within the Hanford ERDF area and transporting all such
wastes for placement, stabilization, and compaction in isolation cells
now being constructed by others. This activity will always be followed
by incremental construction of interim and final engineered barriers
over the cells, including periodic covering of such waste, as
incorporated within the barriers, by on-site stockpiles of clean soil.
Other activities will include decontamination of equipment and trucks,
and possible construction of additional isolation cells. The initial
term of the subcontract will be for a period of up to five years, with
options for additional terms. Approximately 1,400,000 cubic yards of
waste will need to be disposed of during the initial five year term of
performance by the successful subcontractor. Interested potential
Offerors should contact Bechtel Hanford, Inc. no later than Monday,
0une 26, 1995 in order to be sent a form to complete entitled
``Expression of Interest/Prequalification Data'' which will spell out
the potential Offeror's interest in this work and its general
background and experience in similar types of work in other states
and/or Washington State, under similar conditions, and governed by
similar environmental laws and regulations. All such completed
documents must be returned to Bechtel Hanford, Inc. by July 21, 1995 to
be considered. (142) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0056 19950524\M-0002.SOL)
