20361-2140 16 -- VIBRATION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM POC Contact, Sandra Haberlin, Phone
(703)604-6100 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is seeking sources
that have developed, prototyped, tested, and installed an active
vibration suppression system in a military or commercial turboprop
airplane or helicopter. This system would be installed on an E-2C
aircraft, with the possibility of being installed on other fixed wing
aircraft (C-2A, P-3 or C-130). The E-2C requires an active control
system that is capable of dampening vibration throughout the aircraft,
primarily at 1P (nacelle and wings) and 4P (walls of the fuselage)
frequencies and higher harmonics. This capability if installed on an
E-2C aircraft should be able to significantly reduce vibration levels
in the cockpit and Combat Information Center, increase the longevity of
the airframe by reducing high cycle fatigue cracking, reduce avionic
equipment failures, and thus reduce aircraft logistics support and life
cycle costs. The vibration environment in the E-2C aircraft is the
result of two main forcing mechanisms: propeller out of balance forces
(1P) and the propeller slipstream forces (4P) impinging on the
fuselage in the tip plane. No current year funding is available to
support a program to install, integrate, and test an active vibration
system in an E-2C aircraft. Contractors who have developed and
demonstrated an airworthy active control vibration system should
provide their names, addresses, and phone numbers in writing to the
Contracting Officer, Naval Air Systems Command, Mrs. Sandra Haberlin,
AIR-2.2.1.1, Arlington, VA 22243-5120 by 12 June 1995. The contractor
will not be reimbursed for providing this information. The Navy has not
made a final commitment to solicit proposals for this capability and
this request should not be construed as such a commitment or
authorization to incur any costs in anticipation of such a requirement.
Responses should include the name of a point of contact having the
authority to discuss requirements with government representatives.
Acknowledgement of receipt will not be made, nor will telephone
inquiries be honored. See note No. 22 - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 40107-95.
