41 -- LEASED THERMOELECTIC REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER SOL 9BH250509P DUE 070395 POC Contact:CHRISTINE CARLSON, Tel:713-483-3500 Contracting Officer:NANCY KENNAMER, Tel:713-483-8522 The contractor shall lease two flight certified thermoelectric refrigerators/freezers to NASA JSC, one for use on the Shuttle middeck and one on the Spacehab module per class D Shuttle requirements. The leased thermoelectric refrigerators/freezers (LTERF) shall be used to refrigerate or freeze biomedical samples for life sciences flight experiments, (ie blood, urine, saliva, tissue samples, etc.). This lease shall provide ''turn key'' mission integration support, crew training support, flight and ground safety support, launch site support, re-flight refurbishment, maintenance and associated documentation required to flight manifest and flight recertify the LTERF's for each mission. The LTERF shall have sufficient refrigeration capacity to maintain/control the cold volume temperature which is manually selectable. The cold volume shall accommodate a specified list of form factors (minimum dimensions of trays, etc.) for each individual stowage. In addition, the LTERF shall meet specifications for electrical power, downlinked data, displays and alarms, colling air and filters, and thermal environment. T he LTERF shall be required for a minimum of 5 Shuttle flights. The Government contemplates a firm-fixed price contract. This procurement is being conducted under the NASA JSC MidRange Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993.
