International Development (USAID) is requesting applications for a
cooperative agreement for the Center of Population, Health and
Nutrition, Office of Health and Nutrition, Child Survival Division,
Children's Vaccine Initiative Project (CVIP). Through this
competitively awarded cooperative agreement, USAID will provide funding
for a program of research studies and related support in the area of
analysis, implementation, and dissemination, regarding vacccines
effective against Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). The goal of this
competitively awarded cooperative agreement is to accelerate the rate
at which promising new and improved vaccines of potentially great
public health importance are incorporated into childhood immunization
programs of lesser developed countries (LDC). USAID will enter into an
agreement with an organization /consortium that has the skills,
institutional mandate, and experience necessary to implement the
activities proposed under the CVIP. An award will be made based on the
capabilities of the staff and access to a diverse set of consultants,
including proven successful experience in: (1) facilitating
introduction of new and improved vaccines into developing country
immunization programs; (2) managing overseas research activities; (3)
working with vaccine producers both in the U.S. and developing
countries to understand their needs and concerns; (4) designing and
implementing epidemiological research and vaccine field trials in
developing countries; (5) training or facilitating the training of
developing country health researchers; (6) producing and distributing
publications to international audiences; and (7) convening
international workshops. Those interested in receiving the Request for

be received no later that 15 days after this notice is published.
