63120-1798 20 -- INSTALLATION OF WATER MIST FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS ON BOARD
VARIOUS ARMY WATERCRAFT POC Ron Haws, Contract Specialist, 314-263-2899
or Laverne R. Riebold, Contracting Officer, 314-263-2909. The U.S. Army
is considering installing water mist fire extinguishing systems onboard
all Army watercraft for protection of machinery and flammable liquid
storage spaces presently protected by halon 1201 fixed fire
extinguishing systems. There are approximately 60 effected watercraft
which have machinery spaces ranging in size from 75 cubic meters to
1225 cubic meters of volume. The U.S. Army is requesting information
from interested water mist system manufactures, including international
manufactures with U.S. representatives, regarding system capabilities
and testing progress to date. Of particular interest to the Army is
information regarding manufacturers' progress towards meeting the
requirements of the International Maritime Organization's Marine Safety
Circular 668 (including Annex) for both nozzle component and System
fire test performance. For those manufactures or companies who feel
that they could provide this equipment to perform the aforementioned,
please call Ron Haws at 314-263-2899. (0145) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0270 19950526\20-0002.SOL)
