S. Army Corps of Eningeers intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Scintag, Inc., 707 Kifer Rd., Sunnyvale, CA 94086 to furnish all parts and installation necessary for upgrading the Scintag X-Ray powder Diffraction System PC computer with plotter and software written by Scintag for controlling all functions of the X-Ray diffraction. The software must be able to control all stepper motors, sample changers, a high temperature chamber, and a low temperature chamber to be used during analysis. All of the items below will be installed simultaneously with the checkout and realignment of the entire X-Ray Diffraction System: (1) 2000 W X-Ray diffraction tube, 1x10 mm focal spot, copper target. Warranty 2500 Hours Prorated. (2) Refrigerated water to water chiller for generator. Warranty one (1) year. (3) Trade-in of scintillation detector and related electronics for Scintag Inc.'s proprieary, next generation thermoelectrically cooled (Peltier) Solid State Detector, featuring advanced packaging and increased reliability. Developed, manufactured, and serviced by Scintag, Inc. Peltier cooling allows detector to be cooled to operating conditions without liquid nitrogen. Included two theta arm support, bracket, cables and necessary counting electronics, Waranty one (1) year. (4) PC diffraction control system, manufactured by Gateway, consisting of the following personal compter components - Intel 75MHz Pentium microprocessor - 16MB DRAM (70ns SIMMs) - 3.5'' 1.44MB diskette drive - 730MB Hard disk IDE - internal CD-ROM drive - 15'' CrystalScan 2076LE color monitor - Keyboard - Mouse - HP LasserJet 4P laser printer with 4MB memory allows plotting capabilities - Latest Microsoft MS-DOS and documentation - Latest Microsoft Windows and documentation - Scintag's NT software program (not including Microsoft NT license). One (1) year warranty after initial NT release. 'Bug' fixes for the lifetime of software - One (1) Year Limited Warranty. (5) Installation of all items as well as system check-out and alignment and two (2) days software training are required.
