A -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REGARDING PRIVITIZATION OF THE NSSDC SOL RFP POC Phyllis McNatt, Contract Specialist, (301) 286-9403. NASA seeks qualified sources to provide information on planning for privitization of the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) program. The information requested consists of a top-level plan and schedule for accomplishment, as well as resource implications and associated issues. Considerations should include the role of NASA. The information is requested from qualified sources by June 30, 1995, but will be accepted until July 7, 1995. Please limit responses to fifteen (15) pages or less. The NSSDC serves as the permanent long-term archive and distribution center for a broad range of space science satellite data and information. It is responsible for the maintenance, creation, and operations of discipline-independent interoperable master directories, catalogs, data standards, and other information services; access to existing and future NASA space science archives; support (as requested) of Data Center node(s) for science discipline systems; and participation in the development of a nationally accessible science data system. Baseline level of support must be able to provide: Data Archive and Information Systems Development and Operations; Data and Information Archive Acquisition and Management; Digital and Analog Data Ingest and Management; Data Retrieval and Dissemination; Request User Support Office; Storage Systems Development and Operations; and General Science User Support. The NSSDC is a portion of the requirement for the Space Science Data Operations Mission procurement. A draft Request for Proposal (RFP)5-12396/209 for this procurement was released in March 1995. The draft RFP is available through the INTERNET via a World Wide Web server in the GSFC, Management Operations Directorate, Procurement Home Page area. You may access it via Anonymous FTP.
