Contracting Officer Tom Krenek, (713)244-9927, NASA Aircraft Operations Division, Ellington Field, Houston, TX requests quotes for a turbine/compressor balancing machine. This machine is to be used in the engine support shop at Ellington Field to balance the J-85 engine compressors and turbines. The machine must be a two plane, horizontal balancer. It must be capable of a sensitivity displacement of a minimum of one gram/inch and variable speed from 100 to 2,500 rpm. Bearing journal diameters must be capable of sizes up to six inches. The machine must be able to accept existing arbors and journals with minor modifications. This equipment may be examined in place at NASA facility at Ellington Field, Houston, TX. The machine must be equipped with an automatic controller capable of calculating and displaying amount and angle reading of unbalanced, and displaying this data visually to the to the machine operator. Operational and minor maintenance instruction must be an integral part of this quote. Award is intended to be made within five days of the close of this announcement.
