Seventh Street, S.W., Room 5301, Washington, D.C. 20590 B -- FAMILY AND FRIENDS REPORTING/REGULATING PROBLEM OLDER DRIVERS SOL
DTNH22-95-R-05162 DUE 072895 POC Doris E. Medley, Contract Specialist,
(202) 366-9560 In 1993, NHTSA established a Traffic Safety Plan for
Older Persons. The plan is intended to identify the nature of safety
problems that older persons experience and to develop program
activities to address these problems. One of the fundamental elements
in this plan is the regulation of unsafe older drivers. A general
concern in the U.S. is what to do about older people who are unfit to
drive. The objectives of the proposed contract are to identify current
state and provincial requirements and practices concerning reporting
high risk older drivers; determine the feasibility of involving
families and friends in idenifying older drivers who may be unsafe to
drive; and develop guidelines and program materials to facilitate
families regulating the driving of family members who either cannot or
should no longer drive or who should be restricted as to when they
drive. The period of performance will be fifteen months. Requests for
the solicitiation must be in writing. No telephone requests. The
solicitation issue date will be on or about June 21, 1995. (0151) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0013 19950601\B-0003.SOL)
