The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Detachment, Washington DC (FISC) is seeking comments on all areas of a DRAFT SOLICITATION for Information Technology (IT) Support Services at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD. This requirement is part of the Computer Equipment Resources and Technology Acquisition for NIH (CERTAN). The scope of the requirement is to provide comprehensive technical support services to meet scientific, managerial, and administrative computing requirements within the NIH community beginning in Fiscal Year 1996. These services include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Programming and Analysis; Help Desk Support; Training; Technology Assessment, Supplemental Operations; Integration; Software Documentation Management Support; On-Site LAN and Computer Support; and NIHnet Networking Support. The computing environment consists of a diversity of desktop platforms including approximately 13,000 Intel based personal computers, 3,500 Macintoshes, 100 VMS Systems, and 500 UNIX workstations. Most systems are attached to a network consisting of approximately 250 ethernet, token ring, and Fiber Distributed Data Interchange (FDDI) LANs all interconnected through a FDDI backbone. In addition, NIH and other government personnel use centrally supported MVS mainframes, a Silicon Graphics Challenger server system, a Convex C3830 supercomputer, and an Intel iPSC/860 highly parallel system. A (12) twelve month period of performance consisting of approximately 693,560 labor hours and (4) four one-year option periods is planned.
