49 -- HERMETICALLY SEALED VACUUM SYSTEM TO SEAL DATA TRANSPORT UNIT, B-1 & B-52 AIRCRAFT Contact Tom Robertson (95A10), Source Development Analyst, Robins AFB, GA 31098-1600, 912-926-6726. This is NOT a presolicitation notice pursuant to FAR Part 5, but is a Market Survey to identify potential sources for a Hermetically Sealed Vacuum System, pseudo NSN: 4920-BC-001-0001 to seal a Data Transport Cartridge Unit applicable to the B-1 and B-52 Aircraft. The dimensions of the Data Transfer Cartridge Unit to be sealed are 3.75 inches high, 11.4 inches length, and 6 inches width. The Unit is hermetically sealed using a mixture of 90 percent nitrogen and 10 percent helium. Pinch off points are not present on the unit. The unit cover is gasketed, therefore, hermetically sealing the unit entails evacuating the unit under a vacuum, filling the bell jar with the gas mixture, sliding the bell jar off of the base, and sealing the cover to trap the gasses inside. This mixture prevents corrosion inside the unit. In addition to the Hermetically Sealed Vacuum System, there would be a requirement for a Leak Detector which will test as low as 1 X 10 to the-8 STD CC/SEC at 20 inches Hg. A formal solicitation does not exist at this time. This survey is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. WR-ALC anticipates a competitive acquisition using government furnished specification, statement of work, etc. Potential sources interested in participating in this survey must provide a written response that includes: Company Name, Address, CAGE Code, Point of Contact, Size of Business pursuant to SIC 3537, Statement of Domestic or Foreign Ownership, and a copy of your DD Form 2345 - Military Critical Technical Data Agreement. Contractors may obtain a DD Form 2345 certification by contacting Defense Logistics Service Center, at 1-800-352-3572. The extent of foreign participation has not yet been determined and release of information will be determined at the time of solicitation. Respondents to this notice will be sent a copy of a preliminary sketch diagram for the Vacuum System and a request for rough order of cost information for a currently available or design effort Vacuum System. Large and small businesses are encouraged to participate.
