BETHESDA MD 20892-7228 66 -- FURNISH AND INSTALL A BIACORE 2000 SOL N02-CB-56244-81 POC Janet
Mattson, Contracting Officer, 301/402-4509. The National Cancer
Institute, Laboratory of Biochemistry, plans to procure on a SOLE
SOURCE BASIS, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, in accordance with 41
U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), a BIOcore 2000, which will be furnished and
installed by Pharmacia Biosensor, 800 Central Avenue, P.O. Box 1327
Piscataway, NJ 08855. The NCI requires the use of the BIAcore 2000's
plasmon resonance to detect biomolecular interactions in real time,
providing information concerning the binding and dissociation of two or
more molecules such as protein-protein, receptor-ligand,
protein-nucleic acid, drug-protein, and nucleic acid- nucleic acid
configurations. Minimal functional performance characteristics are as
follows: (1) shall use surface plasmon resonance to detect and
continuously monitor molecular interactions simultaneously in up to 4
flow cells in real-time, label free, (2) shall be fully automated for
sample handling and shall include sample recovery and fraction
collection, and (3) shall be capable of detecting low molecular weight
molecules in a wide range of temperatures. It is the Government's
belief that the above specifications can only be met by Pharmacia
Biosensor. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
