COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 7,1995 PSA#1362National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, Purchasing and
Support Contracts Section, EPS/638, 6120 EXECUTIVE BLVD MSC 7228,
BETHESDA MD 20892-7228 65 -- SYMPHONY MULTIPLEX PEPTIDE SYNTHESIZER SOL N02-CB-56247-81 POC
Janet Mattson, Contracting Officer, 301/402-4509. The National Cancer
Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer, Biology, Diagnosis and Centers
(DCBDC), Metabolism Branch, Molecular Immunogenetics and Vaccine
Research Section (MIVRS), plans to procure on a SOLE SOURCE basis under
authority of FAR 6.320-1, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), a
Symphony Multiplex Peptide Synthesizer from Rainin Instrument Co. It is
essential that the MIVRS purchase a Symphony Multiplex Peptide
Synthesizer in order to meet their specific needs for several research
projects. In order to meet the needs of their research projects, the
system must have the following minimum essential characteristics: The
system must have at least 12 reaction vessels that allow for the
synthesis of 12 peptides simultaneously. The system must be capable of
performing 12 different coupling protocols simultaneously which allows
proper synthesis of any one peptide according to its unique synthesis
characteristics. The system must have liquid sensors which act as a
safety feature to protect against potential fluid transfer problems and
empty solvent or reagent containers. The system must be capable of
simultaneous solution transfer via a matrix valve which allows any
reaction vessel to simultaneously get the same or different solution
transferred to or from the vessel on different time bases. Cleavage
must be performed via a fully automated cleavage system incorporated
into the instrument. The instrument must measure delivered volumes of
reagent via a sample loop in order to ensure accurate delivery of
reagents. Syntheses must be accomplished completely independent from
each other in order to synthesize only the peptides currently needed,
with the ability to start others when additional orders are placed.
Agitation must be done via nitrogen in order to ensure better coupling
efficiencies in a efficient manner. Solutions must be transferred by
nitrogen in order to ensures that the coupling occurs in an inert N2
atmosphere. The system must permit use of standard pre-programmed FMOC
protocols or customized reaction protocols for each individual
synthesis. Prepackaged reagents must be available in large or small
quantities. The system must be able to be used as a conventional
synthesizer with larger scale operation possible to at least 0.1mM or
higher depending on length of peptide and substitution of resin. The
length of the peptide should not be a limiting factor. The system must
be able to be used with standard existing lab ventilation systems
which allows the use of standard available hoods without modifications
or additional booster fans. It is the Government's belief that the
above requirements can only be met by Rainin Instrument Co. This notice
of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, if an
interested party believes they can meet the above listed minimum
essential characteristics, they may submit a statement of capabilities.
Information furnished shall include enough material, in sufficient
detail to perform a proper evaluation of their ability to meet the
characteristics. Closing date is 45 days after publication of this
notice. SEE Note 22. (0156) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0368 19950606\65-0001.SOL)
