``MAKING THE CONNECTION''-ELECTRONIC COMMERCE IN THE GOVERNMENT MARKETPLACE The Procurement Technical Assistance (PTA) Center of SEDA-Council of Governments, and the Defense Logistics Agency are sponsoring a practical, hands-on conference detailing current initiatives affecting Electronic Commerce and Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) in the federal marketplace. This two-day event will be held on July 18-19, 1995 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the Wildwood Conference Center on the campus of Harrisburg Area Community College. ``Making The Connection'' has been developed as one of the most practical conferences addressing the issues of EC/EDI. Each attendee will utilize a personal computer in the college's modern computer labs to receive hands-on training from experts of the Scranton and Johnstown Electronic Commerce Resource Centers. Representatives from major buying agencies such as the Defense Industrial Supply Center, Defense Personnel Support Center, General Services Administration, Navy Ships Parts Control Center, and others will discuss the status of EDI at their respective procurement offices. In addition, workshops will be offered on the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA), Technical Data Exchange, Value Added Networks (VANs), Federal Acquisition Computer Network (FACNET), and Electronic Funds Transfer and Invoicing.
