Y -- CONSTRUCT VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FACILITY FOR THE TENNESSEE AIR NATIONAL GUARD, NASHVILLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE Sol DAHA40-95-B-0010. Due 071595. Provide all labor, materials, equipment and other services necessary to perform the work required to construct a Vehicle Maintenance Facility. This facility provides maintenance, inspection, repair, fueling and storage for the base vehicles including cars, trucks, refueler and emergency vehicles. The total facility is approximately 14,300 square feet in size and includes an approximatey 8,300 square feet, one-story maintenance building and approximately 6,000 square feet of covered parking in 2 (two) detached sheds. The Parking Shed construction consists of standing-seam, steep-pitched metal roofs over steel deck on steel joists and beams supported by load-bearing masonry walls (enclosed on three sides). The site is approximately 2.8 acres, is steeply sloping, partially wooded and is currently traversed by a stream. Sitework will include the encapsulation and rechannelization of the stream in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as the placement of approxiately 36,000 cubic yards of engineered fill to bring the site up to finished grade. Fill material properties will be specified and strictly monitored, in-place testing of the soil will be continuous and included in the work. The site will be paved with both heavy-duty asphalt and concrete and a remote parking area for privately-owned vehicles will be included in the work. Power, natural gas, domestic water, fire protection water, sanitary sewer and storm water utility connections must be made around the perimeter of the site and be brought to the building. An existing sanitary line crossing the site must be kept in service or relocated during construction. Landscaping and irrigation will be included in he work. The maintenance building construction will consist of a standing-seam, steep-pitched metal roof over steel deck on steel joists and beams supported by load-bearing masonry walls. Testing of the concrete, steel and masonry construction will be continuous throughout the process and included as part of the Contractor's responsibility. This facility will house administrative functions including offices, restrooms and a breakroom/classroom separated by a rated masonry wall from the vehicle repair bays. A special bay for the repair of Refueler Vehicles will be separated from the general repair bays by a 2-hour masonry fire-wall and will include a below-grade pit, a 3-ton capacity bridge crane as well as explosion-proof lighting and equipment throughout. Equipment and special systems to be installed in the repair bays include vehicle lifts, a trolley hoist, a bridge crane, carbon monoxide removal systems, motor oil, gear oil and lube oil dispensing and piping systems, fume-sensing emergency ventilation systems and an air compressor with a piping and dispensing system. Electrical work will include all associated equipment, conduit and wiring to convey power to all equipment and areas, telephone system, lighting (standard fixtures and explosion-proof fixtures, fire alarm system including pull stations, smoke and terminal detectors, horn and light signals and control panel, intercom system, Monaco antenna and transmitter and site lighting. Mechanical work will include all associated equipment and ductwork for venting, heating and cooling certain areas as well as only heating and ventilating others. A radiant heating system will be used in the repair bays. Plumbing work will include all equipment and piping to provide potable water, natural gas and waste water conveyance throughout the facility, as well as a sump pump, an oil/water separator, fire protection sprinkler system, emergency eye-wash and shower system and special acid containment system at the Battery Storage room. A separate bay will be constructed for the washing of vehicles and will include the relocation and installation of an existing roller-brush type washing system. This project also includes the demolition and removal of 3 (three) single-story buildings located on another part of the base. All construction debris must be removed from the base and disposed of in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations. All of the work described above is to be performed within the confines of the Tennessee Air National Guard, Nashville International Airport, Nashville, Tennessee. Performance time is 425 calendar days. The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00.
