The Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) has a three-year requirement for on-site installation and maintenance of approximately 31,000 existing microcomputer hardware and software systems, to include associated peripherals; Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) design, site surveys, installation, and maintenance; software installation, maintenance and training support services; and video teleconferencing equipment. The number of microcomputers to be maintained throughout the life of the contract is expected to increase at the rate of between 3,000 to 5,000 per year. The microcomputer hardware and software systems are located at approximately 185 sites. These sites consists of DoDDS Schools, District, Regional, Headquarters offices and training sites in 14 countries which are located in the United Kingdom, Iceland, Portugal, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Bahrain, Spain, Korea, Japan,Panama and Cuba (evacuated); and two locations in the United States which are in Arlington and Richmond, Virginia. The hardware environment consists of PC-compatible processors 8088, 80286, 80386, 80486, Pentium, Apple II, Apple 68030 and 68040 processors; and Power PC. The software environment includes Microsoft Office, Access, and Project; Lotus cc:Mail and Notes; Delrina FedForms; Sabre desktop manager Novell 3.x/4.x; educational software and anti-virus software. The Governemt will provide service center and mini-service center facilities within most schools, district offices and on installation, where possible. A pre-proposal conference will be held at the DoD Educational Activity (DoDEA) headquarters facility located at 4040 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA at a date and time to be identified in the solicitation.
