COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 9,1995 PSA#1364U. S. Postal Service, Headquarters Purchasing, 475 L'Enfant Plaza West
SW, Room 7900, Washington, DC 20260-6238 D -- COTS PRODUCT FOR TRANSPORTATION NETWORK ROUTING POC Laurie
Hayden,(202) 268-3328, no collect calls. The United States Postal
Service is seeking information in the form of a Request for Infromation
(RFI) from vendors on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products that
will provide transportation network routing, modeling and optimization.
The application is intended to support Postal operations planners to
reduce costs, improve service, and plan for growth across the national
transportation system. The system should accommodate air, sea, rail,
truck and intermodal transportation. The system should allow for
transportation costs (both Postal and contractor), workload factors,
cycle times, route times, and load effficiency factors. Ideally the
product will have a flexible configurable capability for optimizing
operations to reduce turnaround and cycle times to allow the same
transport and labor resources to handle a constantly growing workload.
The product should be able to import data from a variety of data
sources, so manual data entry will be limited. This RFI is not a
solicitation; however, vendors that respond will be informed in the
event a solicitation is conducted. The respinse to this RFI should
describe the available product, the degree of customization required to
meet the general requirements, provide three references and athe number
of products sold, the technical architecture of the product. Send all
responses to Ms. Laurie Hayden, USPS Headquarters, 475 L'Enfant Plaza,
SW, Rm. 7900, Washington. DC, 20260. Telephone 202-268-3328, fax
